Just read about that, too - great result, as a crash tester by trade I'd love to see more lightweight vehicles on the streets rather than the current heavyweights, and solar power seems like a no-brainer if it becomes financially viable

I thought that the article is a little sketchy in places. When it was discussing the improvements in the efficiency of the various components it identified the inverter and that it was now 97% efficient - it then slips into discussing the solar panel efficiency with the implication that they were 97% efficient - this is a little difficult to believe compared to the most efficient on the market being 45% efficient
I would be happy to be wrong though.
If this can be done for a car then a light weight solar motorbike.....

Yeah I had to re-read that ... it's not going to be 97% solar panels, only a couple of months ago there was lauding of cheap 35% panels being worked out, the 45% ones are supposed to be super expensive.
Not a bike, but there's a solar heavy quadricycle in late development in the Netherlands I think motorbikes are going to be relegated to external charging until we get 97% efficient panels, lol

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
