Troopy Water Pump....How Long will it Last once the noises start?

*****UPDATE****

I have mistaken the noise that is similar to the noise on the youtube video below....it was actually the idler pulley that seized up. Just letting everyone know this so they don't make the same mistake. Instead of a costly tow truck to the dealers and a few hours of them thinking it was the water pump, I could have just taken off the A/C belt, and kept driving.

Cheers

My 94 Troopy has just developed what I think is a water pump issue.

I'm guessing the bearing is about to go as it sounds like this: Water pump noise - YouTube

Does anyone know how long you can drive it before it fails completely? I'm overseas and am wondering if I can drive it 500-1000-3000km before getting it repaired?

Any info is appreciated!

Cheers

How long is a piece of string ! there is no definative answer, the logical one is the shortest amount to get you to the nearest supply . Try to minimise revving , watch temp guage , and listen for any increase in noise , and cross your fingers, further damage may result with deterioration . Only you can decide the amount of risk you are willing to take. HTSH

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
