Motorcycles & Doing Good
You might find these pages helpful:
Motorcycles in Development / Aid / Relief & Volunteer Efforts
Motorcycles in Development / Aid / Relief & Volunteer Efforts
This isn't so much about volunteers going to developing countries and using motorcycles for relief efforts; rather, these efforts are more about local people being trained to ride and service motorcycles themselves as a part of such efforts, which not only helps get aid, including medicine, where it needs to go, but also helps create small businesses. At the bottom of the page is advice for individuals and small groups who want to use their motorcycles and travels to help others.
And

transire benefaciendo - travel and do good
Advice for those that want to travel and help others and/or help the environment, including by motorcycle. Includes how to be a "good" tourist, advice for doing "good" on vacation in a developing country, volunteer vacation programs, volunteering on your own abroad (outside of a formal program) and where to find long-term opportunities for highly-skilled people?

Here are some new photos from our photo contest we have been running. Remember these photos are all taken by Youth, who are learning from outdoors enthusiasts like yourselves, who simply have taken some time to volunteer their skills to teach those who do not have access to the knowledge we all already possess!
We have need of your skills, so why not volunteer your time to USE WHAT YOU KNOW TO DO GOOD AS YOU GO?

Keeping kids safe?
I'll be sure to mention your somewhere on my web site - but I'm curious about one thing: How do you ensure the kids are kept safe when interacting with the volunteers? Not so much looking for criminal background checks of volunteers but more policies and procedures - do you ensure traveling volunteers are never left alone with children, unsupervised, that kids never give volunteers their contact info (full names, physical address, phone number, email), etc.?

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
