Climb Kilimanjaro and Ride my bike to South Africa for charity

Hello all,

I'm looking to possibly find a like-minded rider who wants to ride my Honda Africa Twin from Tanzania to South Africa from the end of July through to mid September 2010.

My friend and I are currently riding a pair of Africa Twin's from Western Canada with Kilimanjaro and northern Tanzania being our destination. Unfortunately, i have to return to "real life" after that, but my partner will be continuing to the cape by mid september. I was planning to ship my bike back home, but I would be open to having another partner join my friend and use my bike and gear along the way.

This is part of our fundraising journey, to make a difference in a group of Canadians volunteering with a childrens home in Moshi, Tanzania, at the base of Kilimanjaro. If you are interested in the climb as well or alone, you are welcome to fundraise and join the dozen of us that are climbing Kili on July 12.

As for the ride, this might be a great opportunity if you've ever wanted to explore a riding adventure in this part of the world with minimal set up. All bike and most camping gear will already be there waiting for you in Tanzania, so a last minute adventure could be possible for the right individual. Route and timeline are flexible, so if there is a region that you want to see or a date that you need to complete, it could work.

Would ask you to cover your own cost of riding, including some cost for mileage and maintenace, but nothing not associated with your own ride. All costs can be worked out, and as long as you are covering the costs associated with your riding, i'm totally happy.

Hope to find somebody interested in a last minute adventure!

Interesting proposition! I'm actually eyeing up Kili as a potential future trip, but not likely to be for at least 12/18 months yet. Shame otherwise as would have tied in nicely to tag that on after!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
