Places remaining for charity ride in early January 2008.
"Motorcycle adventure charity group Riders4Rights (R4R)have once again teamed up with off-road experts Wilderness Wheels to offer bikers the chance of a lifetime.
A group of 50 lucky riders will have the chance to ride the route of the Dakar rally across the Sahara and raise money for the Riders for Health charity in January 2008.
Celebrating its seventh charity ride, R4R offers more places than ever before on this ride of a lifetime.
Organiser Mungo Williams dreams of eventually bringing hundreds of charity riders out to watch the Dakar and to experience the Sahara for themselves.
'This trip is pure joy. You can fly there or ride your own bikes. The roads are great, the locals are kind and friendly...you can fly from £70 or take a ferry to Spain and enjoy warm Spanish roads down to Morocco, raising essential funds for Riders for Health as you go.'
On the 5 day 1000 mile round-trip for the more experienced biker there is a hardcore off-road version or for those who prefer a more sedate ride there is a breathtaking road based version on either your own bike or hired machine. Each night the two groups will meet up under the stars to catch up with the other's unique adventure."
Race to Dakar star Charley Boorman is behind Riders 4 Rights:
'This is your chance to ride part of the Dakar and give something back to Africa through Riders for Health'
Moreover, with entry and the cost of riding the Dakar at over £60,000, this ride offers you a much cheaper way to experience it, whilst also raising money for a good cause, in good company and without the stress of the rally.
You've got time to stop and take it all in: the magnificent scenery, the friendly locals, the stunning sunrises, and the glorious sunsets. And with the entire event in 2008 being filmed, you'll even end up with a DVD of your magnificent ride.
Randy Mamola, former GP star says:
'What Riders 4 Rights are doing is awesome. This is a way to have fun and save lives in Africa. This is a way to show the world what bikers and biking is all about.'
We will be travelling 1000 miles, off-road by motorbike through the Sahara desert in early January 2008. We will be averaging 200 miles per day, for 5 days solid. We will be following parts of the Paris-Dakar route.
The charity we are supporting is a great charity that is making a real difference to the lives of people across Africa now. Please check out
www.riders.org for more information.
This ride is not one of those where you have to raise several thousand pounds which pays for your trip and only a proportion goes to charity. You have to pay for the trip yourself and commit to raise at least £500 pounds for Riders for Health.
