Ride For Light 2011
THE RIDE FOR LIGHT 2011
6,600 kilometers
19 days
3 patriots
1 mission
to electrify all isolated communities through solar energy
A motorcycle adventure ride across the entire Philippine archipelago - from Manila to Pagudpud to Zamboanga and back - over 19 days in April and May. The ride will be led by Philippe Sau , a Solar Energy Foundation board member. He will be accompanied by Ibba Rasul Bernardo (photographer) and Antonio Villanueva (mechanic). Our riders will conduct social and ecological missions in approximately 25 remote communities. In each village, Portable Solar Home Systems (SHS) will be donated to social partners.
The ride took place from April 18 to May 6, 2011 and connected more than 70 communities and resulted in the donation of more than 600 portable solar home systems all funded by sponsorships. We clearly exceeded the i initial objectives and raised approximately Php5m for the Solar Energy Foundation of the Philippines. Yet, another 25m Filipino do not have electricity so the foundation need your help. A donation of USD1 is equivalent to 1 month of light for a poor Filipino family leaving off-grid in a remote area.
