Well, it's been a while in the making. But I've got 26 days left in the with the Canadian Navy, and less than 6 months to my departure for the RTW. I've founded a charitable organization with the goal of raising $200,000 to be dispersed as close as possible to the front lines of the battle for women's education in Afghanistan.

How's this for a stupid business model: I'm selling my house, I've sold my car, my truck, etc etc to pay for the trip. Any monies from sponsors and donors will go to the charity which will operate on a strict budget of less than 5% total revenue (mainly for online credit card transactions). We are all volunteers, and this is a one shot deal. No one is making a career out volunteersim here.

The catalyst for this life change was the death of my best friend, Captain Nichola Goddard, killed in combat in the notorious Panjwai District in southern Afghanistan. We were both Honours students in English at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario.
