Sponsorship & Fundraising

I am curious to hear stories from people who have managed to get other people to contribute to the cost of their trip or who have used the trip to raise funds for a particular cause.

I am planning a trip next year across Russia and would love to use it as an excuse to raise funds for a particular cause but I can't see what the upside is for potential contributors or sponsors other than their goodwill.

It is not as if I will make a charley / ewen style documentary that would publicise potential sponsors or contributors.

The check is in the mail!

I'm looking to give away money - just tell me who to make the check out to, and where to send it.

Seriously - I can happily afford to fund all my own adventures but I do see lots of people either with or seeking sponsors for similar trips. I am just curious about why people would sponsor these trips and how they hope to benefit from such sponsorship.

Hey there :-)

This question comes up quite often here so don't be too surprised if no-one answers it again!

If you do a quick search of the hubb you'll find quite a few threads covering this topic - in fact Alexlebrit gave a fantastic over-view of getting sponsorship over at

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ht=sponsorship

Hope that helps.

Also.... look down at the bottom of this page and you'll find a 'similar threads' box - again lots of good information there too.

New to Horizons Unlimited?

New to motorcycle travelling? New to the HU site? Confused? Too many options? It's really very simple - just 4 easy steps!

Horizons Unlimited was founded in 1997 by Grant and Susan Johnson following their journey around the world on a BMW R80G/S.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
