Turtle Conservation in Baja California
I'm on a six month trip from Alaska to Panama and have stopped off for two weeks in Baja. I'm volunteering at a Turtle Conservation Project. We're patrolling the beach early morning looking for turtle nests so we can help save these endangered species. Three of the worlds eight turtle species nest in Baja and just this morning we discovered a nest which we think belongs to the very endangered Black Sea Turtle. There are only 5-10,000 of these creatures left world wide and this nest contained 45 eggs. A major coup for us!
Anyway, more details on my blog if your interested.

P.S I've met a lot of bikers in the last three months who have commented positively on my plan to volunteer as well as ride a bike, and then asked how they can do it. Easy, get online and search. I'm finding that after three months on the road it's great to stop off somewhere make a (small) difference, have a rest from riding, and get to know a place. Isn't that what travelling is supposed to be about? I think sometimes we get too caught up in the whole, getting from A-z ASAP.
