Fuel in Iran as of August 2010
Hello All,
To clarify Iran as I've just left there after 12 days, riding South East to North West.
Fuel is plentiful and no issue with "fuel cards". The idea of the card is to give the locals a "price break" for the first 300 litres of fuel they buy a month. They pay a cheaper R1000 a litre for the first 300 litres with the card, then it jumps to R4000 a litre ( about 40 cents)
As a foriegner you won't get a card now, nor do you need one, you just pay the higher price - it's still a real bargain and the Pig didn't ping on it loaded like it did in India and Pakistan fuels.
You turn up at the bowser, say "Benzine - No card" and the attendent punches a few buttons and you fill her up. They call it Benzine, Petrol sometimes isn't understood.
Hope this helps.
Cheers !
Frank.
