Jordan/Syria/Turkey-Parking
Hi All,
Sorry for the vagueness of the title, but basically I need to park up in one of these countries. We have to get the vehicle out of Egypt in January and leave it somewhere until we can finish our trip home in July/August.
So, the question are:
How long can we leave a car in any of these countries especially while we are not there?
Any possible parking locations known?
I tried emailing the Syria community and there are so many Turkish options I was n't sure where to start.
Any advice appreciated.

It sounds like you have answered your own question. Take it to Turkey (you can get there fast). Contact the HU community and the OMM club and you should be able to work it out.

TR customs are computerised. You may have to leave the bike in a customs compound. When you enter you sign a piece of paper undertaking to remove the vehicle from the country within a certain time.

Otherwise I can tell you the overland companies usually leave their trucks at Aqaba South beach in one of the campsites. The two mostly used campsites disappeared recently as the Aqaba authorities decides to build luxury hotels there, but there is still another camping a couple kms south where you can usually see Defenders, Landcuisers, Unimogs and the like on their overland stop at the Red Sea.
You can get Jordanian permit for 3 months, exceeding it will cost you 1JD (roughly 1,1 EUR per day on exiting the country.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
