Maybe a stupid question but...
Is there any possibility to sell the car in Iran and get stamps for the carnet in Iran?

Probably not, but still...

The whole point of the carnet is that you don't sell a vehicle in the country which it has been temporarily imported into.

You might be able to bribe a customs officer into stamping it out but I am not sure what the consquences of getting caught are, very serious in Iran I expect.

Apart from that you are showing a total lack of respect for the laws of that country and you will also be creating problems for everybody else who uses them by undermining the system, countries have been known to suspend accepting carnets.

To put it bluntly don't even think about it.

There is nothing illegal or immoral about selling your car in another country. The carnet is there to prevent you from selling the car without paying the necessary import duties (which are very high in Iran).

If you had a car which was desirable there, then theoretically you could sell it, and get customs to stamp the carnet to say that the vehicle was officially sold and all customs duties werer paid.

In reality, unless you were in contact with someone who has experience of doing this, I imagine it would be a nightmare of bureaucracy and petty officialdom.

Better to head somewhere like Kyrgyzstan where selling a car is relatively easy.

If you were to sell a vehicle in another country .. then why use a carnet at all? The carnet says you are NOT selling the car there. So don't use the carnet and pay the duties etc on entry. Or is that just too simple and easy?

@Warin - You are probably right, but like @danielsprague said, the import duties on border are probably too high for this kind of car that I own. That's why I was asking here, If someone already try to sell it there.
