Saudi Transit Visa - Advice Please
I am planning to fly my bike to the UK in SEP09 to ride back to Dubai / Muscat, along the way raising some money for a couple of causes, (Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children & MSF)
I submitted my KSA transit visa application (visa an agent, since you are unable to submit as an individual) 30JUL, received a call that the KSA consulate DXB would issue one for travel the following day - 12AUG09 I explained the the agent this was not realistic, received a call to collect my passport (13 days after submission) with.... no visa, & a suggestion I apply in Jordan. Which I really do not think possible, but would love someone to tell me otherwise.
Docs submitted were in accordance with requirements:
- Sponsor's letter (I am under DAFZA) stipulating transit from Syria / UAE
- Ministry of Tourism Letter - detailing the bike's particulars which is only issued after the carnet / Int'l certificate.
I approached the charity MSF, who I am supporting & they say they also have experienced difficulties.
I will attempt another submission via a different PRO & see what happens, but any advice / experience you may have will be gratefully received.
Originally I was going via Iran - great place, visited a couple of times in the last 9 mths, but with the recent political situation, being a British passport holder, riding solo through this part & with a sat phone, others have suggested I rethought my routing - hence Syria / Jordan / KSA.
I have a one way flight booked to UK mid SEP, so time is ticking.
All the best,
Adrian
