siwa - bacharriya
hello
I have a question about the road between siwa and bacharriya. We have driven the road last summer and it wasn't that good. But we saw that they have ever worked on it to get the road better. Is there somebody who has driven the road this spring?? how was the road condition?? Still parts with soft sand??

Siwa -Bahariya road
Hi
Just saw your post now ,hope my answer is not late?
The road is still awful as it is , and still need to do the damn army permits , and you can't camp there . that said you must do it in one day ,and it is 400 k.m and average hours to cover it like 10 hours in a safe way (driving -riding )
i know some local guys from the oases , they do it like in 5 hours . many serious accidents happened there . due to the very bad road condition and the careless high speed .
still i love to do it again and again ,it is really good journey
make sure to get enough fuel as there is nothing there but military check points every like 80 k.m

Permission Siwa Bawiti
Is it true that is´t hard to get the Bawiti - Siwa permission (granted in Cairo)and it´s better to do the trip the other way around, as to say Siwa - Bawiti. To who we have to talk to get permits, the Egupt ambassy suggested Misr Travel in Cairo, are there any other suggestions ?
Thanks.
We´ll do the trip from Bawiti to Siwa on 13.04.2009 if permission is granted - 2 persons and a 4x4.

Hi

well on the 13th i will be heading from Alexandria to Siwa , will stay there 2 or 3 days then head to Bahariya oasis ,
you don't need any company to make your permits
its easier now ,way easier ,
where are you staying in in Siwa ?
you can contact Yousef in Siwa (+2 010 615 43 83 )
he is a local guide i deal with hem when im there ,and he is nice guy ,
he can help you with permits ,
you need a copy of your passport and to pay (think some thing around 10 us and same for the car ,) not so sure but its around that
you can contact me if you need any other help ,if you want to stay bit longer in Siwa i will hopefully be there like 7 or 8 pm
my phone number is +2 010 170 30 58

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
