Starter for R 100 GS in Israel?
Hi there,
the starter of my R 100 GS broke down today. Unfortunately it is not the usual magnet-thing. It sounds as if a bearing within the "gearbox" that connects the starter motor with the engine is gone. (The tooth of the sprockets should be ok, had opportunity to check that only recently...)
Does anyone have an idea whether used starters for R 100 GS are available in Israel?

Hey lars
The peugot 200 and 300 series cars particularly the Peugeot 305 also many Citroen and Renaults use the same starter motor - D6RA - the mounting plate is different, but just unbolts, and replace with the GS mount, a 5 minute job.
Also you might contact Carsten Tiedemann at Tiedemann Auto-Elektrik Generatoren und Starter fuer alle Fahrzeugtypen who could help you by sending some parts to you if you can't find them locally ...... but you rknow all this - you asked it in a thread in december and I answered you back then so what are you doing to your starter motors :confused1:

Unfortunately it is just the GS mount that is needed: the cogs in the planetary gear are broken.
Apart from that it seems that I now have an even major issue with my bike, because I caused a short cirquit while disassembling my bike...
Cheers

R100gs???
Hey Lars,
Thanks for that info regarding Yemen. It was very helpful. By the way your old 100GS sounds as tho she's getting a bit tired? What model is it? I have '91 model 100GS P-D in Australia that I got in Germany and took it back. Very nice bike and has been revamped before I took it for a trip from the Chemsee to the UK and back down to Greece. Anyway mate, As you are aware I am in Oman and have just purchased another R1200GS here which I have only done 4000 km on it around Oman. Was going to go to Salalar this week but just not enough time so went to Sur and Ras Al Hadd instead. Nice ride! Any way it looks as tho I will be going to Tanzania for work in about 6 weeks and will either try and take this down or sell it here? So if you know anyone who may be interested in slightly used 1200 with about 1500 Euro of TT gear on it well here it is. It has 10 mths rego but insurance only for Oman and I have found out that a carnet is dirt cheap here and cost 200 OMR and the bank will underwrite it no probs.
Ok mate just a thought, if you should know somebody? Enjoy the rest of your trip and i will keep in touch.
Cheers
Ivan
