Syria Visa and TIP on border from Jordan
Hi!
Syria everyone said was impossible without visa in advance. It was not possible to get one in Cairo so we gambled and it worked out well. People say it is a hit and miss and works sometimes and sometimes not.
As there are quite new regulation on the syrian visa that you have to apply in your residential country we would have had a problem.
Our carnet had expired too.
We went to the smaller border north of Irbid/Ramtha in Jordan.
We got the visa at the border 30 USD
TIP (temporary import instead of Carnet) at the border 88 USD
Insurance: 36 USD
Diesel tax 100USD per week
Be sure to exchange money at the border bank stating what you are using the dollars for as the receipt is labelled with Visa, diesel tax... (In Arabic)
Some extra USD for stamps and so.
We had no problems but be sure you have no Israeli stamp and also have not exited to Israel and entered Jordan. They know the border town stamps.
