Tyre availability in Syria?
Hi,
I have somehow found myself in Syria on an XT600E and am looking for a new back tyre. Any Ideas where i could find a good cross tyre in Damascus? I have seen acouple of road tyres in 120/90/17 but would prefer a more off road type if possible.
Thanks George

Try to find tyre alley... Don't know if one exists, but it must do. All the shops selling the same stuff always seem to be near each other in Mid East/ Asia/ Africa/ Latin America. What bikes do the police/ army ride? Ask one of them.

Thanks Chris,
I'm pursuing that sort of line but have only unearthed a $15 vietnamese special. I reckon I'll stick to Bridgestone until I reach Turkey. I'll keep digging here in Damascus.

When you are going to Turkey, you could try the tyre alley in Aleppo - unless you are in desperate need for them now? I havent seen offroad bike tires there though. But it's worth the try. The alley is in the same road as the 'Spring flower hostel', downtown Aleppo.
Good luck and have a nice trip.

You'll be able to get hold of one in Gaziantep, just across the Turkish border. There's a big industrial estate on the east side of town with some tyre dealers. We got a back tyre (for a BMW R80ST) through the Avon dealer - took a couple of days to arrive as it came from Istanbul.
