can i get motorcycle insurance in Ouarzazate?
Hi,
My last trip got cut short due to a broken leg, and I am going back next weekend to ride the bike home. The bike is in Ouarzazate, and I fly there directly (Dublin - madrid - Ouarzazate with ryanair).
Customs should be fine as I am within the original 6 months, but my insurance I got at the border has run out. Is there anywhere in Ouarzazate that I can buy the tourist bike insurance, or am I on a dodgey spin home?

From what I know CAT ( https://www.cat.co.ma/) are the only company that issue Assurance Frontier for foreign vehicles.
I guy I was helping a month ago was unable to get this in Marrakech despite speaking directly with CAT, he was able to purchase some in Zagora though. Probably worth phoning CAT direct as they seem slow at responding to emails.
Other options who may be able to help in Ouarazazate would be Bikershome and Wilderness Wheels, details for both are in this section somewhere

There used to be an insurance office in Marrakech on Boulevard El Mansour Eddhabi, just off Avenue Mohamed V.
Its been quite a few years since I used it so no guarantee it's still there though.

Merv:
See this discussion (starting around post #20) - it has to do with a Canadian who is shipping his moto by air into Casablanca, and needs to buy insurance there, rather than at a typical ferry point of entry to Morocco.
You'll find all the contact information for a major Moroccan insurer on that post.
Air Canada Cargo ship M/C to Casablanca.

Thanks guys,
I heard from Peter from bikerhome, and I should be able to get it at the AXA office in Ouarzazate (where I am now). I missed them by a few hours on Saturday as they close at lunchtime saturdays. I waited around yesterday so I can visit them this morning.
If I cannot get it there, and since I'm leaving Morocco now anyway, I'll head for Cassablanca to buy it there. on route to the ferry.

To wrap this up, AXA sold me insurance. 460 dirham for 5 days. They will do longer, but 5 days was enough for me. They wanted to see and copy driving license, passport and green temporary import document.
The only funny is that the insurance starts from the day after you buy it.
Thanks all.

Merv:
Thanks very much for your post directly above, in which you reported back to all of us what the final outcome was. That information will be very useful for others in the future.
