EU Insurance sent to North Africa/Morocco

Tomorrow I'm flying from London to Banjul with a couple of friends to ride our motorbikes up along the west coast and into Spain before coming back to the UK.

We bought insurance online and it is currently in the post on the way to London. Unfortunately looking at the tracker it won't arrive before my flight tomorrow.

I'm hoping that my girlfriend will be able to receive the documents and then have them sent with DHL or someone similar to somewhere along the route.

Can anyone recommend a safe place in Morocco/Western Sahara that I could get them sent to? Anyone with experience of this know how long it might take?

Well - you won't need the document (Green Card) until you reach Europe, and it's going to take you a while to get from the Southern border of Morocco / WS up to Europe.

I suggest you pick a hotel or other lodging facility that you know you are going to stay at enroute through Morocco, and have the DHL envelope sent to that business, addressed to "John Smith, guest arriving May 15, Hotel Morocco, etc.".

Pick a place far enough north that you don't have to worry about delivery delays - in other words, don't have it sent to a hotel in Dhakla.

That's what I do when I want to pick up my green card in Europe when I arrive there (I live in Canada).

Might be a good idea to contact the hotel ahead of time and tell them that there will be a courier envelope arriving for you.

Can't you get a electronic copy emailed and print it?

It shouldn't matter for the EU documents

Hi Warden:

No, sadly, the police in European countries will not always accept an electronic copy, even if it is a very high quality print or JPEG.

I learned that the hard way 2 years ago crossing from Romania into Bulgaria.

You could get it scanned and sent by email. Then go to one of the many photo copy shops, to get a good double sided print made.

My U.K. insurers only issue an electronic copy of the certificate now. I’ve never been asked in Europe but assume as that’s all they issue a print out is fine

I contacted a hotel in Tangier and had our green card insurance sent there so we have it before entering EU. I'm sure you can do the same, just pick a place you like on booking.com and email them. Our documents were sent fast post from Bulgaria and took a week.

Maybe Poste Restante services in the central post office in Banjul [Edit] .. or another major town on your route.
List your Surname first, bold and underlined. But check online for details.
