You need software like Mac GPS Pro (not free). Others for PCs I am sure.
Or possibly one of the Garmin apps, Base Camp, Map Schmap etc.
But I also get mixed up or forget what is what until I need to do it.
But if you are talking about Moroco Overland routes, I would not bother.
Keep it simple, use a paper map, Olaf + your eyes.
Tracks in Mk are very clear.
Only when you lose a track or find yourself on the wrong one is it handy to conform this on a GPS/satnav correlated with the nearest waypoints in the book. Once you know that visualise where you should be (N S E or W).

Olaf and a track log (continuous line, even if not always 100% accurate) is 10x more useful than occasional wpts.
