Hi all,

I'm in Morocco now (Zagora) and during the past week have passed through Midelt and Erfoud/Merzouga. All seeems completely normal from what I see, just less tourists than usual. Tomorrow, I'm heading over to Ourzazate and intend to stay in the country for a couple more weeks.

Note for Chris Scott - I did MS5 yesterday and sadly there's now only 30km of real piste left in the middle of this one. The rest is all graded now, but having said that, the new graded road is completely washed away in 4 places!

regards,
Andy

Thanks for the update Andy, makes sense to improve or even seal that section - and there are still plenty of great pistes west of there.

Route MS5

The graded road runs east/west, the flood waters run north south so nature will win in the end. Don't drive this road at night as you'll not see where the road's been washed out until it's too late.

If you leave to the south, you can pick up an old track for a while which heads west towards Foum Zguid along the foothills of Jebel Bani. Just head for the patch of sand dunes. It's a bit rough in places and you'll need to pick your way across the oued but it's much more interesting than the road.

Heading back out end of next week!

Happy trails,

Jojo

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
