Recommendation for a wild camp please
Greetings to all at the Hubb.
My wife and I are heading south of the Atlas next month,we have a 4x4 and are looking for secluded wild camp area for a few days to enjoy the stars.
Looking at a map, the area we will be travelling in will be around Mhamid/Foum Zguid/Agdz etc so hopefully the night time temp will be a little warmer than the high Atlas passes.
If anyone could point us in the right direction or give us a gps fix we would be most gratefull.
Best wishes to all,
Mark & Jo

Hi Mark & Jo,
Welcome to the HUBB!
Regarding your wild camp, you've got thousands of square mile to choose from.
You could tuck yourself away in the Chegagga dunes west of Mhamid. The piste from Mhamid is long and stony but it's worth the drive. If it's windy head due north from the dunes and shelter in the lee of Jebel Bani.
The valley on the other side of Jebel Bani is fairly quiet. There's a new graded road most of the way between Foum Zguid and Zagora which you could pull off for a few kms and find somewhere.
Wherever you pitch up, chances are you'll not be alone for long. Local kids or a lonely shepherd will soon spot you!
Either side of 11 April should be good for star-gazing.
Happy trails,
Peter

Thanks for the reply Peter,it would be nice to find a good spot to put our feet up for a few days and enjoy a G&T.
We have done lots of wild camping up north and had a great time.
If you pass by Chaouen sometime come and have a cold one,my wife and I have a house 5 mins from the Parador with a great roof terrace.
Thanks again.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
