Safi, alternator required

Hi, I'll need to get a new alternator in Safi, any suggestions? Or how hard is that likely to be? I've got a Bosch and Lucas part number. It's an updated one in my Iveco 90 amps

Can’t help in Safi I’m afraid. When my alternator went in 2013 I got a 2nd hand replacement at the Scrap Yards in Ait Melloul, south of Agadir.

I’m in Essaouira at the moment and will pass through Safi on Friday heading to El Jadida if that’s of any help getting an alternator from here to there or a free lift towards Casablanca

Thanks, we will pass you. I'm in Cap Beddouza now heading to Essaouira on Friday! To be honest I think I can manage without one for a few days. I drive in daytime so no lights and I can divert the solar power if necessary. Last resort is ship from the UK (eBay) or ADAC?

I'll keep an eye out for you

I vaguely recall seeing a string of garages and parts places as you leave Safi on the coast road but can't be certain

We are at Safi now. The Marjane car park. I'll ask around and stop at camping international for a night or two. It still pumps a bit of charge in at high revs so I can limp along for weeks! I'd like to meet up if it fits in.

I'm in Essaouira tomorrow, then I'll probably be leaving here 09:30ish Friday morning so probably be passing through Safi around 12.

I'll be driving up the R301 along the coast, could meet up on the road or for lunch in Safi, or a in Essaouira if you get here tomorrow

I've sent a pm. A man at the supermarket knew a mechanic, who in turn knew where to get parts and testing. Finger' crossed, the alternator has been fixed the Moroccan way, a new regulator (and dismantled and tested). I don't have a full understanding of what he did. So I'd feared a bill of several hundred pounds and a week of trouble. Instead all done in an afternoon at a price that was embarrassingly cheap.

Great news , Morocco can be great for getting stuff fixed, I had a suspension breakage near Asni at the weekend, replacement parts were on the shelf in a store in Marrakech and I was mobile again by lunch time.

Just emailed you

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
