TIG welding near Foum Zguid?
My mate has broken his shock on a KLR. Mainly as he rode out after blowing a seal, so no damping, and we think the 'topping out' impact broke it.
Bottom line is, we're not so bothered about fixing the damping, but need to weld the shock body to make the bike rideable. It's aluminium.
Any suggestions in FZ? Someone locally said we need to go to M'hamid, but I'd have though Zagora a better bet.

If you can't find someone with a tig set, or if the repair doesn't hold you might consider getting someone to knock up a solid strut, maybe from some old car parts containing suspension bushes to reduce the stress on the chassis. Anyone with an arc set could do that.

Thanks, already sorted :-)
Stick welded aluminium. Having done some TIG myself, not sure it will last. Turns out it was El Mhamid just north of FZ and less than a mile from our stay, not Mhamid!

Glad you got it sorted and fingers crossed it gets you back. I once had to have a series of kickstarts fabricated after the original snapped off (overly 'enthusiastic' in sand ). I initially trusted the 'shade tree' welders knew what they were doing but their ones kept snapping through poor material choice. The one that kept working was when I selected the materials and stood over the welder - 'weld there', 'and there', run a bead along there' etc.
