Washouts on route MH7
Just returned from 3 weeks in sub atlas Morocco. Just a heads up on Chris Scott's route MH7. There's a bad washout west of Askaoun at N30 42.405 W007 50.872 where the road is badly undercut meaning a 4x4 has to climb the rockface to the right to avoid the track crumbling into the river. OK in an unloaded 110 with a spotter, but roofracks/tents/jerrycans would make it an unnerving and possibly expensive 10 metres of track. Not far to fall, but it'd be an interesting recovery! Numerous further washouts, all driveable, continuing westward, and a big one at N30 42.237 W007 54.678 in a village (Aoufour?) which requires a detour round the back of the school and a short drive through a "garden" (please reinstate the walls, and don't crush the trees!) and the river.
All easily passable on a light bike, or with confidence and maybe a bit of muscle on a heavier loaded one. For 4x4s heavily loaded up top I'd suggest giving it a miss. Pity though. Beautiful, and no hassles in the evenings from anyone.
Safe travels,
Simon.
