Still following

Still no sign of Aussies or Kiwis making the ride from home, I'll keep following and see how it pans out. Thinking it'll be pretty cold riding at that time of the year though.

This is the only thread about this activity and we all are waiting in patience.
Reason of silence at our side is explained above with details.

April has nice weather conditions in all over west half of Turkey.(18-25 C.) Nights are cooler in the area.(8-15 C.)

I start partly staying in my summer house at Lapseki(opposite port of Gallipoli) for fishing, hunting, swimming, relaxing, etc. first week of April..

Aussies and Kiwis I meet at Gallipoli on bikes for Anzac Day, generally make this town a starting point for their trips back to their homes..Bikes are shipped to İzmir. As ı remember, once a year every december, there is a direct sealine to İzmir from Australia.

Sure will inform all details when clear...Lets keep in touch.

Best wishes to all..

A group of Pakistani bikers and history enthusiasts are excited about Gallipoli anniversary. I have heard and read a lot about it and would like to pay homage to the legendary Turkish regiment which created history of extreme valour along with other victims.

A bit of guidance for visa and carnet for Turkey would be very useful from our Turkish friends.

We would prefer to make a loop, Pak-Iran-Turkey-Armenia-Azerbaijan-Turkemanistan-Uzbekistan-Kirghizistan-China-Pakistan

Cheers

I reply here and all personal messages asking for information to enter Turkey by a vehicle and try to donate all with current tips.

Between Pakistan and Turkey no anymore developments for visa procedures yet. Both sides have to apply to consulates for visa in the home country except official passport holders (free) and those who already have Schengen/OECD member country visa or residence permit while entering.

If any invitation letter is needed (don't think so as Pakistan conculate staff here is very friendly for Turkish applicants), sure will be pleasure to send LOI. to all brothers there, guide and host all here who plan to visit Turkey not only on bikes.

Current visa procedure between our countries is:
(Officially written)

Pakistan: Official passport holders are exempted from visa for their travels to Turkey up to 90 days. Ordinary passport holders are required to have visa to enter Turkey. Ordinary passport holders with a valid Schengen, OECD member's visa or residence permit may get their one month single entry visas at the Turkish border gates upon their arrival.

Visa Fee.:
PAKISTAN
1 Month
20 $ - 15 €
3.....3- Ordinary pasaport holders with a valid Schengen, OECD member’s visa or residence permit may get their one month period single entry visas at the Turkish border gates upon their arrival on the condition that they meet certain conditions.

No carnet needed to enter Turkey.

If your green insurance doesnt cover Turkey, you can buy traffic insurance at all land bordergates for periods of 1,3,6,9,12 months beginning from 25 TL.

This is the link to university hotel by the seaside with a huge garden we plan to stay during 100.anniversary days..Also friendly local bikers and cyclists club available run by the uni. students..Soon the site will be also in English.

Fotoğraflar | Dardanos Yerleşkesi

Selam to Pakistan and all Bro.s

Best Wishes

Well lets hope we can get ourselves organised and meet up in Pakistan to maybe ride together to Turkey to remember the heroes from all sides of this terrible conflict.

@robtho
Today got the price offer for 2012 sent by the March.18 university authorities together with a good news, camping in the garden will be available.

Our celebration date is March 18.
More than 400 cyclists have made reservations in a cooperation with University Cycling Club for this year.Everyone by bicycles and motocycles will be allowed to Gallipoli with time differences between each group and the rest will be taken there by buses this year.As usual, will be there and make photo files on my facebook page for 18.March and 25.April 2013 ceremonies....

Much photos here may make Mr.Grant unhappy!!!!
(Anyway thanks a lot, always increases my photo limits)

Entrance time to the area is always TOLD (never written but everyone obeys) by Tourism Office at Eceabat Ferry Port.(when you exit ferry, turn left, last building on the right, facing sea, first corner and first floor.)

When time is closer, will announce what our program will be covering all the staying.

Photos of 2012 ceremonies here.

Wish you all the best.

I suspect that there will be way too many people wanting to be there for the 100th. So I think there will be some limit placed on the numbers, and some selection process for that.

If you simply want to pay your respects then you may be better off before or after the main date .. as there will be more privacy.

There is indeed a Ballot happening for the Anzac Day Ceremony in 2015.
The pollies are already debating whether to restrict it to descendants of soldiers or leave it open for all.

They are limiting it to 8000 and proposing a "trial run" in 2014.

Personally, I'm hoping to be on the Gallipoli Cruise leaving from Fremantle the month before...

Today the national broadcaster has suspended there geo block so you can watch the ANZAC services any where in the world.

ANZAC DAY with the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

For the next 9 hours the live ABC TV will all be ANZAC related. There are also other links on that site about ANZAC, including Gallipoli.

If you guys do go, from home I would love to come see you all off (if from Sydney)
I just camped there and watching the sunset over the cliffs was something I will never forget.

Mehmet Zeli is a gentleman also, I encourage you to meet him as he is an ambassador for the true turkey, not the one where salesman can say "g'day mate" in Sultanmet.

Mehmet, say g'day to Oppo, Taylan and Ennis for me mate

Istanbul

I'm in Turkey now but without my bike. I've just been to the Gallipoli sites and it's a credit to the wonderful people of this country. I hope to meet with Mehmet over the next few days to see what we can do to keep this concept on track.

Great to see you are in Turkey.

Am in İstanbul until July 20/25 waiting for the İstanbul visit of the daughter of my Australian biker friend, Mrs.Helen..

Afterwards will be at Şevketiye village for summer holiday and fishing until end of september..

Hope you have visited Kolin Hotel,Australian Consulate in Çanakkale, 18.March.University Campus,Çanakkale Bikers Club, şevketiye village and camping area - football ground by the seaside cafe..

It is definitely impossible to make long term official plannings in Turkey...
Even 18.mart.campus is unable to give prices for 2015 and the website is still has no english version..(been discussed and accepted 3 months ago.
-all mails kept)
Dardanos Yerleşkesi & Dardanos Resort Otel adresine hoşgeldiniz. | Dardanos Yerleşkesi & Dardanos Resort Otel

Probably both elections will be held in 2014 autumn so will have enough time for updating the program of 2015-April 20-26 in hour by hour schedule and finishing preparations. Will be in the area in 2015-January for finalising the project.
No matter how it goes officially, always used to have plan B. here if it is your target...

Please inform me where to meet you when you are in İstanbul and anything I can do for your purpose of the visit.

All the best.

Hi Mehmet

Thanks for your interesting messages about 2015 visit, I will travel from Scotland and look forward to more information about the University accomodation and your club involvement. Although the anniversary is mainly concerning Anzac and Turkish forces I am a member of the armedforcesbikers.com in United Kingdom and being an ex-submariner I would be going to honour the British Submariners who were involved in the terrible events that took place in your country. Any information next year about the 2015 anniversary would be very appreciated.
