This year's event is in beautiful Revelstoke, BC, Canada. Fantastic riding country, all sorts of rides, including one to a local hot spring.
A great chance to meet up with 50-100 motorcycle TRAVELLERS from around the world, with slide shows on Russia, Europe, including Grant and Susan's show (yes we'll be there!) on "How you can do it yourself, and more.
You do not want to miss this! So sign up now on the Meetings page!

Hi,
Sorry, hadn't thought about Halloween! And no, it's way too late to change the date, lots of people already locked in.
BUT we will certainly think about it for next year, thanks for bringing it to our attention. We're still figuring out this whole rally thing, and scheduling - this year - nine of them around the world is an interesting challenge. In most of the world Halloween is a non- or minor event, it's only Canada and USA that it matters, and I don't have kids, and have only been "home" in Canada for two out of the last 17 years, so never thought of it.
Hope you figure a way out and get there anyway, or perhaps next year! Of course there's also Revelstoke...
addendum....
In case anyone's confused at this point, I just realised that mototraveller is talking about the Mexico event but accidentally posted to the Revelstoke event... and I replied assuming it was the Mexico thread.

I would like to do some riding while I am at the meeting and before and/or after the weekend is a possibility.
Does anyone know of great spots?
I am riding from Phoenix or LA and may go further north after the meeting - weather permitting. Does anyone want to join up on the road?

That whole area is fantastic riding - it's pretty hard to go wrong. For instance have a look at the route to Nakusp and west of Nakusp. Another one is through Kaslo, or Kootenay Bay to Kimberly, and many more.
Awesome roads. If you've never ridden the area you'll be blown away, some of the best in the world.
Minimal traffic, but do watch for deer, and don't ride at dusk or dawn.
On any semi-busy+ road watch for the man, he's watching for you.

Any news or updates regards the Revelstoke meeting? Any idea about how many riders may show up?
I am concerned about the fires in the whole of the Northwest, I am coming from
California, I watch very little TV news so
haven't heard much.
Hows the weather been?
Thanks,
Patrick

Nothing much new in the last few days.
More and more people registering. We expect 50-100 people.
The fires are indeed a big deal, but there shouldn't be a problem getting to Revelstoke, there is more than one route. As we get closer to the date we will post any updated info as needed on the meetings page and probably here.
It's expected that by then there will be some rain and the problem will be over. This is worse than usual, but not hugely, other than to those who have been burned out.
Weather continues to be fabulous unless you're a firefighter! Weather normally around then is good. Date was chosen carefully! Of course you can also go to the Mexico Meeting! Hit two in a year!

Thanks for the road recommendations.
If you hear of any groups getting together to explore, and you get a chance, let me know. I will keep an eye on the posts.
Thanks,

Hi Everyone, The weather is still great in Revelstoke. There are still fires around but they pose no problems, and all the major roads are open. Unfortunatly the forestry backcountry roads are closed because of the fire hazards, so no offroading for the dualsport guys...But there are still some great rides around. If you have any questions, let me know... See you all next weekend

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
