Thumbs up New Adventure/Trail Bike and Pre1986 Enduro Bike Rally Raid for 2012

Hi all, we are looking into running a UK based Rally Raid in 2012 proposed details outlined below:

  • 2 day event for riders of adventure bikes, large trail bikes and pre 1986 enduro bikes with a competitive element.
  • The chance to legally ride the forest tracks and trails normally out of bounds.
  • Test your bike control skills against other competitors.
  • Competitive elements based around adventure riding/travel skills.
  • Team and solo entries available.
  • Ride with our guest riders, some of the countries if not the worlds best known and admired independent adventure riders.
  • Full event support/ back up provided in the entry.
  • Organised and run by an experienced team of event organisers with many years at both National and International level.
This event is aimed at those who wish to try their hand at something more competitive but don't want to go on a full blown competitive rally or enduro. With more and more pukka enduro bikes now entering UK Rallies some of these events are becoming more speed orientated and often off putting for the less experienced off road rider. We are offering you the chance of another type of competition where being the fastest rider won't automatically make you the winner.

To register your initial interest please drop me a line to retroenduro@gmail.com and we will keep you up to date on all the news and developments for this exciting new event.

Event Location

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your interest in our event.

The event will be based in Mid Wales, Mid Wales has a long history of staging motorcycle off road events and gains much support from the local community. We will have access to parts of the countryside and forestry you would normally be unable to legally ride.

We may include some sort of point scoring system depending on how far you have travelled by your bike to reach the event. I see your location is set to Glasgow so I'm guessing you might gain some valuable points there.

To make sure your kept up to date with the latest news drop me a line to retroenduro@gmail.com and we'll keep you posted.

Thanks again for your interest.

Best wishes Sam Davidson.

Sounds great Sam! Will this include a borderline aggressive Welsh cop demanding money off you - the earlier you give in the less points you get with bonus points for managing the entire hour claiming not to speak Welsh or English and smiling politely?

There might just be a competitive element baesd around such a scenario! Though quite how we will score it is yet to be sussed out!

Drop me a line to retroenduro@gmail.com and we will keep you posted on all the news and developments as they happen.

Thanks again.

Best wishes Sam Davidson.

Have done.

there was a question in it that may be of interest to others as well - does the pre-86 category have an earlier cut-off? My RTW bike will be 'nearly' eligble for pre-65 scrambles if you ignore the wheels, brakes and suspension. Would that count?

I'll be unemployed at the time, waiting to set off so let us know if you need a hand setting up or with any of the logistics.

Cheers,

Henry

I'm interested??

I'd probably be coming along on a '91 XLR250 (or will this be against the rules) - I'm happy to ride to the event on it - no vans and trailers for me.

I'd love more details as to what the challenges are likely to be and what dates it will be on.

Thanks

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
