hi guys,
i got a csx 60 which i've been using without any problems. i used it last weekend no probs, the monday though!! i switched it on and it just say's acquiring satelite's continuously! the gps part is switched on and it's showing a round circle with north,south,east and west marked. the lines underneath where it normally shows the satelite's connecting is blank and there's no searchlight type of picture showing it searching! tried lots of different things but to no avail. any ideas? i've had it 14 months now so it's out of warranty also!

If it doesn't sort itself out soon, call Garmin UK (in Southampton as I recall) as soon as their office hours begin otherwise you'll have trouble getting through.

They will talk you through a few buttons to press for a fancy reboot of some kind. If that doesn't work, they'll probably suggest you send it to them for an inspection.

I've had really good service from them in the past on out-of-warranty units; it's worth a try.

PS Have you recently updated the firmware and if not, have you tried that?

Have you moved a distance between switching off and back on? Then you can have problems getting satelites - it still thinks it is in the same area .. there is a sequence of buttons to press to let the gps know that it has moved .. satelite page - menu then follow your nose.

There is a reset sequence .. might be in the manual...

thanks for replies but still the same probs.
downloaded the update's etc to no avail. it went a.w.o.l whilst i was riding,left the house no prob but about 1/4 mile away it said acquiring satelite's. i looked in the book for a reset but to no avail. i've set everything back to default and no good! i'll ring garmin today if i have time and hopefully they can help. if i get a re-boot from them i'll write down the buttons for future reference and post it here.

Hard rest 60c = with the unit turned OFF press "PAGE+ENTER+POWER" all at the same time. Probably the same for the 60csx I guess.
Make sure you save all you waypoints, routes and anything else you want to keep onto your PC first because this reset will wipe everything and put the unit back to factory default settings.

the reset worked on the csx 60 also but did'nt cure my problem! call garmin soon as i get a moment..

today i tried ringing garmin but could'nt get through, so i moaned and groaned as you do! and entered csx 60 reboot into a search engine.
it came up with lots of bits but one in particular was groundspeak which seems to have a lot of gps info on there. (we talk bikes, they talk gps) Groundspeak Forums Redirect
i had a look through some stuff in there and found my answer!
like a fool i downloaded the updates and at the end it offered me something else but i said no as i did'nt understand what it was!
when you press menu-setup-system-menu-software version mine was saying gps sw version 0.00. it should say 3.00. with software version 3.70. so i followed this advice i found on groundspeak-

it was failing because i did'nt download the additional software at the end which i did'nt understand! DOH! (it had a funny name)(my excuse)
apparently i'm not the only one to have had this problem and the reason given is a power surge which wipes out the gps software! i think i can relate to this as it happened after starting the bike and pulling away from the house. my battery needs changing and was probably low on power when i hit the start button draining it even more and then a sudden surge of power when it fired up.
but all ends well and thanks to everyone concerned.
