My TomTom froze

Went on a trip last weekend and half way thru my TomTom Rider froze.
The screen didn't move, couldn't turn it off/on.
Had to wait till the battery died then plugged it in to the charger and it started again.
Anyone had similar problems?
Regards
Mick

Hi, Guess you don't read manuals

In the bottom there is a small .5mm hole insert a thin NON METAL item in to it until you feel a small click, and then power on and hay presto it will work again. It's a hard reset don't worry nothing else will change, only that it will wake up the system from the freeze.

hope that helps when it happens again.

ive had this happen a few times, i dont have a tomtom but my garmin did it a few times before it seemed to settle down and my ipod does it occasionally.
every PDA ive had at work has a tiny reset button in the back, and on some things (like the ipod) theres a sequence of button pressing involved. some do a "hard" reset or a "soft" reset, too.
it sounds like a nightmare of unreliability but its no bother really, i guess you have to put up with it as a price of more and more technology.

depends what generation your from, too.
my dad would smash it against the wall screaming "F*****g Thing!!"

i would go get the handbook and finally read it like i shouldve when i got it,

and my 9yr old son would say "gizzit here you dozy old fart, you dont know nuffink i'll sort it art for ya"

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
