My next preference is for Berndston/Borch laminated maps, because the are also waterproof, tearproof. You can write on them with a marking pencil and remove with a damp cloth. The problem I have with these is the heavy plastic doesn't allow folding into the best shape for your map case. I don't use a tankbag, just a BarMap mapcase from CycoActive (a.k.a. Touratech USA) and the maps I have for SA don't fit.
