Are you referring to the Russian maps? I’ve used the Russian maps of Africa with great success in my travels. What do you want to know?
Just a note, you cannot download these maps into any GPS. See elsewhere in this forum for more info or simply ask here again.

For me they are indispensable since few maps exist for the area I travel in (Egypt and the Sahara) even though they’re very old. But I’m not sure if there are better maps for South America you’ll have to ask around a bit.

Hi folks
To Argentina, Uruguay, most Brasil, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru etc. You can get the detailed cartography to the MapSource from http://www.patagonia4x4.com.ar/~pat47/login.php you have to register (it’s free) and wait the confirmation mail and the password then you can transfer the dates from the PC to the GPS. It’s too much complete than the Garmin software and sometimes appear actualizations. I don’t think that the Touratech CD be so complete at less for this part of the world. Be patient, the site it’s only in Spanish.
