Which mounting bracket?
I'm about to purchase either a Quest 2 or a 2720 to use on a GS 12adv. I'm confused with all the different brackets available (Touratech, Ram, Garmin) and which one to buy. I will be travelling to NW Africa and riding off road so require good damping to absorb the shocks from the rocks and would like to be able to lock the gps to prevent theft. Any ideas?

Touratech/Ram Combo
I've got a Quest 2 and am mounting it to an R1150 Adventure. Rather than opting for the extra $$ for the special shock absorbing Touratech mount and then mounting that to the cross bar I am going with the locking Touratech mount on a RAM arm. This gives more options for mounting and also some shock absorption. I like the idea of the lock so that I don't have to worry as much when popping in to pay for gas although I'll have to replace the wingnut on the RAM arm with a regular bolt.
Have fun!

Thanks for the info Ekke. I didn't realise the locking touratech mount will fit onto a ram mount - I'll look into that option.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
