Given that you are already en-route (and, presumably, holding a non-European passport), you'd better try for a visa in Tunis.

Algerian Embassy-Tunisia
18, rue du Niger, 1002 Belvedere, Tunis

Phone 2161 78 31 66 / 90 38
Fax 2161 78 88 04

You don't need a carnet for Algeria.

Sam.

You used to be able to get one in Bamako in the space of three or four days (2001). The embassy is(was) south of the river near the "old" bridge. If you follow the signs to the german embassy you will be near it. It may have moved in the meantime.

Has anyone got an Algerian visa in Niger recently? Is it difficult? I realy only need a transit visa to get back to Tunis and Europe after a nice time in Sahara and Africa.

I have also been told recently that one can get a transit visa in Agadez for Alg, but I have also heard that the guy in Agadez is a bit tricky. In Niamey I would have thought less of a problem.

Hi Sam
No Carnet for Algeria?
Delighted to hear it, but please confirm...
Does that mean I can travel Tunisia - Algeria -Tunisia with only local insurance and no carnet?
Thanks Kit

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
