Addis Ababa - Ethiopian police are holding four suspects in connection with
the killing of South African engineer Alan Drodskie in the north of the
country, the ENA news agency has reported.
Alan Drodskie (34), his wife Corrie (31), and their two children were
attacked by gunmen while travelling between Bahir Dar and Gonder in the
northwest of the country late Tuesday, ENA quoted local officials as saying.
Drodskie was killed with a single shot to the head from a Kalashnikov
assault rifle after apparently interrupting a robbery.
"He was trying to go past the stone barricade placed along the road by
robbers who were ransacking an Isuzu (off-road vehicle) and a heavy-duty
truck at gunpoint," the agency quoted police as saying.
It was not known when the four were arrested and police have not revealed
the identity of the suspects.
Bands of robbers roam the border areas of Ethiopia and there are sporadic
fights between government forces and rebels in the area. - Sapa-AFP
