LY Jan '06
Hi,
No problems whatsoever with Libyan customs personnel in January 2006, 3 bikes, one LC. All with GPS mounts. But yes, TN border officials asked us about GPSes on exiting the country and we simply explained... (hm, find your own excuse, you can also say Santa's bringing one for you to Tripoli)... we had none. That was it.
I believe Libyan officials would be stupid not to expect this kind of tourists to bring GPS devices in. But repeating, no such hassle as in TN.
January 2006.
Interestingly, in 2004 I crossed LY from EG and nobody asked me anything about GPS on TN entry.
But again, hiding the unit if you're so tight on time you can't afford an hour with TN bureaucracy shouldn't be a problem. Anyway, you're just going to play a bit in the sand around Douz, AREN'T YOU?
