car sell
here is another question that bothers me. probably i will have to sell the car when i get down there(west Africa). Which country is the best to do that (Senegal?) considering i have Skoda Favorit, 11 years old.
i guess it will be illegal, so what should i take care of, how can i go back then (when i have a notice in my passport that i entered the country by car)
thanks for help

DEFINITELY THE GAMBIA (inside Senegal ) . It seemed to me the most "car selling friendly" country in W.Africa.
For a start , they DONT stamp vehicle details in your passport ! . You know that You can leave the country whenever you want !
-at worst , you can dump it-
There's no VISA fees at all for EU members , no "douanne fee" , no nothing . Obviously Carnet is neither required !
There's even some (european-ruled) car selling business , which make the whole operation really hassle-free. No scams , no last minute issues , no hustlers , no nothing .
Try Mr. WolfGang @ Sukuta Long term Car Park (Serekunda , Gambia , close to the CAMPING SUKUTA ) .German efficiency at its best in car deals ! .
ah... yes ... another advantadge is that the official language is ENGLISH !!!! . Good news for all non-French speaking people like me !.
Apparently , there's also good / cheap flight connections with Europe .
Have fun .

But there are -almost- daily flights to London and (Amsterdam ?)-,probbably also to Germany , (not sure about that) .
At the Camping (Sukuta) , there were lots of adds of cheapo flights to Europe. (200-300 EUR) - In the WEST_AFRICA lonely planet guide says that The Gambia is one of the easiest/cheapest countries to fly from .
Other option -what I actually stupidly did- is fly from Gambia to Dakar (15 mins flight) , 40-50 EUR , and then , shop around in Dakar for a cheap fly home .
-Next trip I am planning (this October) , I will definitely fly back from Gambia directly to Europe - (and if , I can not find a direct flight Banjul to London , I prefer to make the flight connection elsewhere in Europe , rather than in the Hustler-infested Dakar. Have fun .
Enjoy .

If you sell or leave your car in Gambia you dont have to fly out, you can also leave by road.
In April cheap flights were booked out for ages and the cheapest were going for about €600.
