chris, you're famous in Dakhla
On a quick trip south from 'up north' to Stanfords map shop in London, bumped into a lass who had flown home for a week from Dakar to go to her best friends wedding. She is travelling in West Africa with her partner in a Landrover. Went through the convoy in January and said that as they were in the queue at Dakhla, there were lots of Sahara Handbooks being perused by folk there, all looking to see what to do next. It would make a good photo opportunity!
An amazing coincidence to bump into her (over Chris's motorbike book as I looked to see if it's his photo on the front cover), as we are likely to be in Timbuktu at the same time in March. What a small world, especially as they havent seen any other UK registered vehicles on their trip.
Our next stop was the 'Travel Bookshop' near Notting Hill - tracked it down to discover that it was the bookshop used in the film 'Notting Hill' with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts - and there, pride of place in the front window is a copy of the Sahara Handbook. Can you cope with all this fame Chris?
