Embassy Information?

This may seem like a silly question but im not sure so though it would be best to ask

Im leaving for an Atlantic route trip to Mali and am a UK citizen travelling with a UK and USA citizen. I will need Visas for Mauritania and Mali.

Do i go to the British embassy for visas to these countries or do i visit the Mali Embassy and then the Mauritanian Embassy to get the 2 visas we need? We are getting our Visa in Rebat

Just wasn't sure which way round it was

Finally, do you need to have a "reservation at hotel" or "Return flight home " when getting a visa in Rebat. The embassy in the UK was trying to get us to jump through so many hoops. As we are travelling we don't have intended places to stay but would like to camp/visit hostels on route. We felt the embassies in Rebat were a little more relaxed (from reading this forum)

Any help and time is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Rex

Mauri and Mali embassies are on the same street one block apart in Rabat so you coould ask for both. Check here for updates on the procedure, the Mauri visa took 24 hrs last time I was there in March. No need for hotel reservations or anything else, just be there in the morning with pics of yourselves and paper copies of passport/driving license.
or get the Mali visa in Nouakchott if you intend to stay there, done the same day
And do make a bunch of fiches if you are going this route, 50 or so. Will make it much easier for you.
There's a nice hostel in Rabat next to the medina.

Hey thanks!

Does anyone have a link to a template to the Fiche? would be good to print out a bunch.

Thanks for the heads up on camping spots. I have been trying to input as many camping spots along the route as possible. Could you give a GPS location of the camping spot your talking about? i cant find it when searching through the map. Or even a google map location would be great. Also if anyone knows of any good camping spots along the atlantic route all the way to Mali this could make a reall informative Thread:

Mine so far

Camping in Agadir: 30°25'26.64"N 9°36'31.22"W
Camping Tiznit (camping municipal): 29°41'39.86"N 9°43'34.28"W

Im trying to build up a list down the route

Thanks

if the Rabat option for the Mali visa doesn't work then in Noaukchott there is a Mali embassy that will issue them in 3-4 hours, drop them off early and collect before 1 the same day

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
