I went a couple of years ago, before our overland trip to India.
It's more aimed at sponsored expeditions and field studies - a lot of Geography students doing their university field trips - however there are also a lot of extremely interesting people there who've done fascinating things (eg Jack Jackson, mountaineering expeditions etc) and the talks on Sunday are excellent.
It does get you to think about what you're aiming to do, to think about the risks and issues you may face and how you'd cope, and unless you are one of those structured chaps who has thought beyond the route and the vehicle (I wasn't!) it reminds you that there are a lot of other things that you really want to tick of as having at least thought about before you leave.
Unless you're really pushed for time, I'd go.
Cheers
Ollie

I went. It was worth the trip - plenty of info. I must say that the best workshop was on overlanding, chaired by Jack Jackson with a panel including Roger Crathorne, Duncan Barbour and the guy who organised all the Camel Trophy events (sorry, I forgot his name...).
A fair bit of it was devoted to research-based expeditions but there was plenty of valuable info to be gleaned from most of the talks. Chatting in the bar on Saturday night was extremely worthwhile for meeting up with like-minded travellers!
Recommended.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
