Fuel availability Dakhla-Nouakchott??
Can anyone give an update on fuel/gas stations available on the new tarmac road from the Moroccan boarder to Nouakchott???
Planning to go direct from Dakhla to Nouakchott without stopping in Nouadhibou. Heard there is a new road???
Going on an R6, so don't have much range, even with a jerry can.
I know, probably not the best bike for the job, but that's what I've got.
Thanks

Yes there's a lovely smooth new road, bit boring at times though.
The last fuel stations in Western Sahara are at Motel Barbas which is 160 miles south of the Dakhla junction with the coast road.
From there it's 60 miles south to the Mauri border. After the border the road heads east for about 30 miles to a place known as km46 where there's a fuel station but it's diesel/gasoil only. The road then turns south and next fuel station selling petrol is 45 miles further on (i.e. 135 miles from Motel Barbas).
There another fuel stop after another 60 miles, then it's a further 150 miles to Nouadhibou which has several fuel stations.

The New Road
The road is not really new I travelled along it in Jan 2006. There is at least one good station. It is a boringish road, but it does make it faster with four children. Just watch out for shfting sand dunes, they can make it a bit lumpt at 80kmh.
Also be very careful coming out of Layounne - way too many traffic cops.
Fuel is not really a problem in Mauritania any longer. However, I seem to recollect that Western Sahara was much cheaper.
Happy days
Andy
P.S. Ages since posted on here, I have just bought a Land Cruiser though and cannot wait to get back to the Sahara - LJ78 - it is gorgoeus.
Much better than a Land Rover (I say that after ten years of Land Rovers)
