We (my wife and I) are hoping to travel through Libya around May/June 09. We are aware of the new 5 people rule for the visas.
So far we have 1 other person who would like to apply for visas with us. Let us know if there is anyone else interested. We will probably get the ball rolling fairly soon with our applications etc.
Cheers

I'm hoping to transit the country in April. I do not have the time to spare in Tunis and am hoping to contact the British embassy in the next couple days to get the visa.
Will be interested to hear what rome have to say.

Important changes in Liby'as visa request.
Thes applicants must now personally apply for their visas at the libyan peoples Bureau ( Consulate or Embassies), they must give proof of healt insurance covering also hospitalizions for accidents and have hotel reservation.
Tourist and travellers may only travel in group of four ( as before) .
The procedure takes minum 10 days from the date of application.
Change also for business travels. ( Only one single entry)
Above is already in force .
Cheers Budrinna

Budrinna... any transit visa info?
Hey Budrinna,
As you seem to be well informed about Libyan tourist visas I thought I would ask to see if you know anything about the transit visa.
I am still living in hope that we will be able to obtain one of these 'hens teeth'. Although it seems a shame to just speed across Libya, we are doing long trip from Tunisia to South Africa via the east coast. So don't have it in the budget to pay a tourist guide for Libya. If you or anybody else has any up-to-date info regarding the transit visa I would really appreciate.
We will be in the process of chasing the transit visa in about a months time - so will definitely report back on how we got on for everyone else out there that also wants to dodge the expense involved in a tourist visa.
cheers - J

"Important changes in Liby'as visa request."
Every month there is a changing in Lybian regulations... We need to take this habit.
Unfortunately, sometimes these changes occurs when you are in route...But what can we do , except changing our destination ?

Dear Moggy 1 it is not a question to be well informed , but living here it is only our pleasure in giving all travellers official & correct infos hoping to avoid them from troubles & surprises that can arose in their visit in Splaj.
So about the transit visa ( max 7 days) there is nothing new as it is still very difficult to obtain it and at your place we will suggest for a normal visa and cross to Egypt in two days , the minimum time required if the budget is your main problem as the guide is always compulsory and its assistance necessary at the border in and out . It is a shame not to stop two day more and ask for discount.

tourist visa
Hi Folks;
I am not sure if this thread is specifically related to transit visa but checking my upon arrival tourist visa I got message from my guide (reputable one) that:
"...this is rule for those who will obtain visa through our embassy which is usually business visas, not for upon tourism arrival visas, so don't worry and
forget it..."
I am naturally born optimist so ... I am going to forget about it!
Cheers!

Hi Wyvial
Be very careful and don't be very confident with what your Lybian guide says about formalities!
May be it's true but may be it's not .
Also, tomorrow , in Lybia, something true will be false, and it's almost impossible to know what is possible or impossible to do in Lybia.
