Invitation Algeria / Maps Illizi, Djanet and Tam.
As a Belgian citizen I need an invitation to obtain a visa for Algeria. Can someone provide me an address (tourist agency for instance) in Djanet where I could obtain such an invitation.
In return I would be interested to join a 2 to 3 day trekking in the Djanet region in March-April 2003.
If someone has second hand maps available of the region Illizi and south east of Illizi (until Tarat and Iherir), the region Djanet and south east of Djanet (Tadrart) or Tam and nort east of Tam of sale 1/200.000 to 1/500.000 I would be very interested to buy them at a reasonable price.

Hi Guy,
All Dutch citizens need an invitation aswell, but the last few month they are also getting the visa if they write down there exact route that they are going to follow. Give it a go in Belgium!
And there are a few address' in this forum and on the website also, seek and shall find as Suzan always states.

hey guy
we (4 belgians) got our visa after writing a letter explaining trip itinerary and motivation, etc.... The consulate sends it to algiers for approval and you receive an answer abt three weeks later. do all the application papers when handing over the accompanying letter BUT when you get a positive respons...they will phone you.... go and get the actual visa only a couple of days before departure....it's only valid for 30 days!!! the country is opening up...there should not be a problem getting it this way.
If you want to be sure you'll get the approval, you can always say you are going to transit the country to e.g. niger and that you're not in need for a tour operator anyway, that works!!
ciao

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
