Libia to Chad

This might be old news from May 2009 but I hadn't heard about it.
The Libians have opened up a route into Chad. No doubt not open to individuals but who knows in the future?

Oh wow! Just when things are looking so bleak for the East Coast. I'll be keeping my eye on this post then...

Sorry to say I would not get excited about this old truck route opening for us any time soon. Didnt watch it all but IMO it will only ever be for exceptional aid convoys coming down via Kufra/Matan to deal with Darfur refugees - and only while it is safe to do so.
One or two people I know did it 10-20 years ago before Libya tightened up but I think the vid is no more significant to overlanders than G Gallaway crossing from Mk to Algeria last year with a convoy bound for Gaza.

All other trans Sahara routes except Mali Tanezrouft will be simpler/safer.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
