Libya 2003
Hi
I’m planning a trip to North Africa about this time next year. The current plan is two people in one Discovery, 3-4 weeks in West Libya including the following desert sections:-
Lake Gabrum
Akakus Mountains
Ghadamas to Serdeles
(May turn into a trip to Morocco if the visas are a problem…)
Is it possible/normal for people to meet up in these places to travel through the desert together? (more then one vehicle). I do not want to tackle these routes in one vehicle but currently have no other group to travel with.
Does anyone know of any clubs/groups I could join so we can plan to travel with others?
Thanks in advance,
Malcolm

Hi Malcolm
"I’m planning a trip to North Africa about this time next year. The current plan is two people in one Discovery, 3-4 weeks in West Libya..."
I am also planning to re-run the trip I cancelled after the Sept 11 bomb and would like to keep in contact.
I will use a 1998 Discovery amd possibly a 1976 Land Rover 101 as well.
My substitute Morocco trip might be of interest, see my website.

hi malcolm! we also go for tunesia/libya/egypt in autumn 2003. we (f 30, m 30) start in october 2003 in tunesia (ferry from genua beginning of october), then go to libya and egypt) with two bikes (honda african twin 650, honda dominator 500). we have the same problem with group entry in libya. maybe - if you don't have checked any group to join - we could try it together.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
