Libya - Niger border : Open or Closed
The following site http://www.desert-info.org/forums/in...&s=7b8beff467c appears to say (in German) that the border is closed. Can anyone provide any information about this and update the thread as the situation develops please. There are several groups planning to go this way in the next two months who will be keen to hear the news. Thanks

I would advise not to believe all these rumours. Although you never know. I passed this border in october, and heard the same rumours before I left. The only person who really knows if the border is open is Mohamed Tahar in Katrun. Unfortunately his phones are not working very well. Try: +2187352901 and 2187352919.
Keep me informed.
And by the way: are you dealing with Arkno? They still owe me 300 euro's.
Greetings,
Gerbert

This was the original message:
"Die Grenze Libyen/Niger bei Katrun ist im Moment geschlossen, weil Touristen, nachdem sie erst in den Niger ausgereist waren, wieder illegal nach Libyen zurückreisen wollten.
Gruss
Ursula"
Please note that I wrote "for the moment closed"!!!
Some Italians are trying to pass the frontier and will give us a feedback soon

Try: +21871631202 it is another number of Wadi Alkihima Travel Tours of Mr Taher Ahamat but concerning the border from Libya this is open only going out. The problem is Niger's border that is open or close following to local problems. Situation is not clear. Need also guide at the border and diffcult to obtain as tourists.
Regards
Budrinna

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
