Quite right Richard !

59 on 1210 are peoples arrived last December on board private means of transportation, car & bikes, included those in transit to Misr) that sounds around a 5% . The remaining part landed by air and others means as cruise ships. About the Italians there were 169 on 1749 that is around 9 % ( most of them bikers & 4x4 grouped together ). Need data about the french the next most Eu tourists or the average of night spent in the desert, or the type of 4x4 most used?
Kull shei ( everything) here and with a simple clik is now possible to learn without screaming news based on “once upon the time”. Nevertheless also with this few numbers a raise is registered .Same data report that last deadly accident occurred to a local T.O. happens 9 month ago with a minivan capsized ( tyre explosion) and two tourist dead. Sorry but those real numbers and infos professionally given for everybody use and not mental, amazing or informal discussions.

Crazy vehicle opperators

It's allways an interesting topic at the end of a gruelling day in the saddle. How many near misses? Did you see that truck with.. etc. Lets face it, it's part of the attraction to these places that they do not have the rules that make riding in Europe so unrewarding. We dont go out to kill ourselves but if we had to sit on a closed in section of highway or pieste at 100kmh for hours on end we would look elsewhere. Africa can be forgiven for the way the locals drive as is still quite a new concept for them. That said, tourists, who have been restricted in their ability to drive like madmen (except some Italians) should have more repect for the enviroment and the unexpected actions of the locals. Sadly, when travelling in a capable 4X4, they dont feel like there going that fast so one can easily travel much quicker than would be safe without even knowing. What ever happened to 50mph, flat out in a Landrover? Sadly, legislation will ruin it for all sooner or later. We will have to have an approved guide driving us everywhere, for our own good, at 60kph.

Ride safe.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
