"...Hello, we returned straight from a two-month film production from north and west Africa. Here some information: Libya: were with a Guide on the way, which was helpfully and also always well gelaunt very competently. Our film team consisted of two people, two vehicles (car and motorcycle). From the tourist police participated neimand. After the Akakus and Wau EN Namus we left the country via El Gatrun to the Niger (Madama). The tariff-technical dispatching on Libyan side was to be settled problem-free in El Gatrun. In the proximity of the Mt. Tuomo we delivered only an "exit paper" handed out in El Gatrun at a military post.
Niger: the entry at the military post Madama ran just as smoothly. To Agadez we drove in company of Guides. Without them the route would not have been approved. The route of El Gatrun to Madama led us along the truck route, usually very clear and well driven on. On Libyan side a new tar route is built at present from El Gatrun up to the border at Mt. Tuomo. We ourselves drove on last 8 km before the border on tar. How far it is posed already toward the north, we could not get to know. Also east of Madama we could observe appropriate building activities. Distance to Seguedine is good likewise by existing TRACKS to find. Except a truck (with approx.. 150 people drauf) are we nobody meet.
Burkina Faso/Mali/Mauritania: Border crossings completely problem-free. No chicaneries, no bribes and also no searches. From Bamako the piste direction Nioro is continued to remove and after Ayoun el'Atrous: Bamako to Didjeni is geteert [tarmac?], Didjeni to Diema is already a outstanding gravel piste, Diema to Nioro is still another very original, verwaschene piste with many holes. Nioro to Ayoun is to a large extent already again developed, z.Teil already geteert. Last 20 km before Ayoun are only missing. Those have it however in itself, there completely weichsandig. The distance of Atar over Choum after Nouadhibou (partly along the railroad line) was varied to drive on and marvelous. Only completely few meters soft sand, but beautiful crushed stone tracks and nice small dunes, which made much fun.
