mauritania 1:200000 maps
I am trying to get the above maps for atar, chinguetti, ouadane and guelb er richat but am not having much luck. Touratech charge £150 for a cd of them including software which is too much for me. Are there any other possibilities?

Many thanks for the leads. I haven't managed to get a map yet, here is how I've got on:
www.daerr.de I could only see 1:2,000,000 maps on this site but I can't read German so maybe I missed a link.
www.themapshop.co.uk they are going to try and source me a 1:1,000,000 for the area I need (Adrar).
www.stanfords.co.uk could not help.
www.mi4x4.com/cartografia.asp I was frustratingly close on this one. There is an incomplete set of 1:200,000 maps for Mauritania on this site including one of the four I need. I clicked on it to open but it provided only a black screen. I tried to open another one to see if the site worked okay. This time, the map for Nouakchott started to load very slowly, about 1/3 complete in four hours. I left it on overnight but woke up to a white screen - the portion of the map that had opened the previous night had now disappeared.
As such, I still do not have the 1:200,000 maps for Mauritania that I need. Any further suggestions would be gratefully appreciated!

Try this then:
http://www.daerr.de/bestellen/ergebn...9FEFQJgo23FD24
You have to guess the words a little, I had a German helping me at the time.
Schnellsuche > GPS > then search page 2.
The maps that I have from them are excellent.

Hi,
I've just realised that you're looking for 'maps', paper maps I presume. As I spend so much time working with digital maps, this is the route I was leading you. Sorry!
However the Daerr site will have paper maps as well listed under Landkarten.

Hi Kevin
Thanks for the extra info. Yes, the maps will need to be paper as they will be needed on my trip to Mauretania. A CD ROM may be suitable but I have had never had maps on cd so I don't know how easy they will be to print on my pc.
Following the link for Landkarten I saw a map of Mauretania divided up into boxes for each 1:200,000 map - all four that I am looking for are shown. However, when I go to the online shop and search for Landkarten Mauritania I am only getting the 1:2 million available for sale. I am not able to find the 1:200,000 maps themselves in the shop. Am I missing something obvious?
cheers

Hi Lucas
I tried clicking on the Atar map once again on the site you directed me too but unfortunately I am still just getting a black screen.
Best regards

Try this:
http://www.daerr.de/suche_seite2_dae...1/sr0/grp.html
Alternatively go to:
Erweiterte Suche > TYPE "Mauretanien" in the empty box and click "Suche Starten" you will then have several options.
Finally if you establish from this that they have what you are looking for you could ring them, both of the people I spoke to spoke English.
Postage is about 13 euros though because they insist on sending you their catalogue, perhaps that's not so bad though as it has helped me to guide you through this.
I don't speak, or read, German either.
Good luck.
