Mauritania
Hi people,
Make sure in Mauritania you have cash. There is one hotel in Nouakachott that takes credit cards but that is it. You cannt use ATM's and Euros are better than sterling. When I was in Mauritania mid January before the accident. We had real problems.
I had a thousand pounds (UK) in travellers cheques and no one would take them. Even sterling they wanted to change more than 100 pounds at a time.
We survived on a budget of £100 for five days as we thought we could find an ATM or cash travellers cheques. Diesel was very very expensive in Nouadibhou.
be careful at the Mauritanian Border I was questioned extensively abot whether or not I supported the war in Iraq.
Yours
Andy
